Polka Dots and High Waists

because i feel the need to post here, some stuff i made earlier this year.







polka dotted purses. black cotton drill with printed cotton patches on the flap. fully lined with a poly cotton poplin (both of them red)



i always used to forget to turn off the outside light when i was taking photos in my old living room. thats why its blurry.

anyways, high waisted cotton drill skirt with straps, my own design, drafted it myself but mostly made it up as i went along. if my tafe teachers knew they'd be shuddering and there is no way this would have passed.

i'm still super slack, i haven't made anything since i finished off the little penguin at the beginning of this month. i keep buying fabric with fruit printed on it. my new favourite kind.

we're having a cape party for new years eve. i'm supposed to be making myself a cape for that. i was thinking little red riding hood style. who knows if i will though.

i've signed up for an owl swap on craftster though, so thats going to get me into gear! my journal is already starting to get filled with little pictures of owls.

Pin Cushion Penguin

I'm still slowly getting my sewing corner set up(currently i've got my machines out and now i'm going through the many many many boxes of fabric and threads and buttons) and i found these little penguins that i'd started making as gifts for people (its my go at making molly chicken's festive birds). i also found heaps and heaps of pins just randomly pinned in fabric and floating around in my sewing box.

so i finished one of the penguins off and ta-da! pin cushion penguin!

it needs a name now.

and i need to buy some more storage containers or a wardrobe for fabric and works in progress and all the rest!

Christmas Trees, Sewing Corners and Sunsets

My housemate Emily and I bought a pink christmas tree the other night.



Our house is very much a boy house, it has been inhabited mainly by males for quite awhile (check out the carpet GROSS!), so we thought this christmas its going to be very girly. So a pink tree it was. We've also got a My LIttle Pony advent calendar.

Kim, a woman that I work with, made these baubles for our tree.

I've finally started setting up my sewing corner so I can start creating things myself. I've bought some really great fabric lately too.



Its a bit of a mess I know, but its a start. I need to get a nice big set of drawers to keep all of my fabric and bits and pieces in.

And just because its pretty, i took a photo of the sunset from my window a few weeks ago.

things to do.

i need to find my camera's battery charger.
i need to clean my room.
i need to get my ass up off this chair.

me | mu & meow

me | mu & meow are my best friend band. They're playing rics tonight with a girl who calls herself Shiver Like Timber (i have no idea what she sounds like at all). It's me | mu's first major gig, and they're headlining. pretty awesome.

Big things are going to happen to these kids.

charley came to visit me this evening.



the girl knows i love buttons. she actually gave me the brown squirrel last week, but the rest of them are new. so so adorable.

she also showed me a lovely assortment of buttons that she bought herself.



i bought the red fabric last week when i was out in the valley shopping with charley. i'm not sure what it is as its second hand, i got about 3 metres for 5 dollars. thats just how it came. its 100% synthetic though. i'm thinking of making a dress out of it, i've got a pattern for a school uniform that i think would look really cute. its going to be really hot to wear though.

my cat loves it, i got it out to show a friend on saturday night, and left it on my chair, she's been sleeping on it all week. sadly i don't have any photos of her doing so. but its the cutest thing. (i adore my cat, so this may be biased)

and the black and white fabric is a knit remanent that i picked up earlier in the week (on wednesday i think?) cotton and some kind of stretchyness (elastane or spandex) its just a bit over a metre. don't know what i'll make with it, but i was drawn to the print.

i haven't unpacked anything at all. just been hanging out with my lizzy kitty and giggling at my drunk housemate.

theres always tomorrow morning (band practice in the afternoon).

first post!

whats this? a first post? oh my. warning number one.... i'm not really into using capital letters.

first of all... i'm not really sure what i'm going to do with this. i'm having all these creative urges lately, maybe its the move, maybe its all the new season fabric that i've been seeing at work. maybe its because summer is on its way. whatever it is, i have an urge to create. i have an urge to sew. i've got a diploma in clothing and textiles, boxes and boxes of fabric, a sewing machine and overlocker and more space than i know what to do with.

maybe i'll post pictures of what i've made. maybe i'll post pictures of what i'm making.

the other creative side of me makes music. i play drums and sing in a band called go go go go! i sing in a band called on/onn... and then theres the new side project (go x 4 is my main band, go x4 always comes first) well i don't know whats happening there.. i'm supposed to sing, so far we've only had one practice. where i didn't sing. just played with the keytar with my friend luke.

so thats introductions out of the way.
