i'd love to buy a painting or two for my room, but i'm also a bit poor right now. mostly because i bought tickets to go see the cure! hooray!

looking at this stuff makes me want to start painting myself.
i'm all about giving everything a go right now.

granny squares

over the past few days i've been re-teaching myself how to crochet. i used to make granny squares when i was a kid. my mum used to make massive big blankets. but it never kept my attention long enough for me to do that.

recently while looking for something, i found a crochet hook. so i started playing.

this is what i've got so far. its a bit wonky and i'm not really sure why. but i like it. its got character.

holidays almost over!

my holidays are almost over :(

i haven't done any sewing that i meant to do at all. my machine is really not happy with me. i've got a few suggestions on how to fix it so that will be my mission today (as well as buying some stuff from spotlight and attempting to clean my room a bit!)

anyways over the holidays i bought myself some new watercolour paints. so i've been mucking around with those a little bit.

mostly i've just been colouring silly little critters like these, just old scribbles in my journals. and a few new ones like the bunny you can see in the top picture.

its my birthday on the weekend and i was hoping to make myself something to wear out. so i better get cracking on fixing my machine.

holidays!

in three days i go on holidays from work. three weeks off. i haven't had a break for almost a year and a half. i can't wait!

i hope to get my room all sorted out, sleep in a lot and possibly make stuff.

the icecream scarf

finally after working on it for a few weeks i finished the icecream scarf. i was on a bit of a knitting spree but then i just kind of slowed down. it'd actually been finished for about a week before i got around to casting off. whoops.

look at me model. i'm so silly.

i was doing some sewing on thursday night (which is quite a rare thing for me these days, i'm so slack) and lizzy kitty as always likes to play where i am. and right by my sewing table is a whole pile of boxes.

she's so cute. i can't stop taking pictures of my cat. ha.

i've got a bit of paid sewing that i should be doing now. i'm mostly done, just a few hems, button holes and buttons. and then i get paid, and you know money is good. i also want to make something for my sister. i found out last night that the's been a bit down lately and i'd like to make her something to cheer her up.

knitting

I've been knitting a fair bit lately while I've been watching dvds (Supernatural and Gilmore Girls, I'm a bit obsessed wtih both). I can only do a basic knit stitch and I can't read patterns so I've just been making scarfs. It's pretty relaxing.

This is a scarf that I've made out of a printed 8 ply acrylic. It reminds me of camoflage. Pink camo. :D

One of my works in progress.
I keep starting new scarfs beause I just can't always keep my attention on one set of colours and get a better idea for another scarf. I also found a heap of wool in the trailerload of crap that my parents brought down to me a few weeks ago. I've currently abandoned this scarf twice and I'm working on what I'm calling "the icecream scarf".

My sister has requested that I make her a yellow and black scarf like the bad guy from Where's Wally? and Sasuke wants me to make him a baby pink and baby blue scarf to make his Jimmy Eat World shirt that I plan on stealing when he moves in with us.

I'm still buying fabric and not doing anything with it.

These two are my most recent purchases. The skulls are what is called "boxer cotton" and was found in the sleepwear fabric section at spotlight. The zebra print is a cotton drill. My favourite kind of fabric to work with.

I keep getting distracted by the discount patterns at work.

I can see amazing things in this one. I've just been picturing some of the printed cottons I've got stashed away and I'm drooling.

This one I bought yesterday. For the loose pants. I've got some tiger print flannel that I bought years and years ago for a dollar a metre (so I've got heaps) and for years I've been meaning to make some pj pants out of it. Now I have the pattern. I told my housemate Emily about this pattern and she's pretty excited for new pj pants too.

I've only ever sewn with a domestic pattern once. So it should be interesting.

I've really been doing a whole load of nothing lately. Been a bit stressed and lazy. And a bad swap partner :(.
